Tami Schmalz earned her Master's degree in Psychology from Santa Clara University, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Services from Notre dame de Namur University. She also has a Pupil Personnel Services credential.
Tami has been providing counseling services for children and teens for the past 13 years in a school setting dealing with issues such as attention deficit disorder, domestic violence, grief/ loss, trauma, bullying, separation/divorce and suicide.
Tami has a private practice in Redwood City where she works with children, adolescents, and adults. She has been intensively trained in Dialectic Behavior Therapy by Marsha Linehan/Shari Manning at Behavioral Tech in Seattle, WA. She has been leading the Teen DBT skills training group since 2008. Tami works with a variety of disorders which include Personality Disorders, ADHD, Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and Depression.
From her DBT training she learned that clients can benefit from learning DBT skills to cope with life and its challenges. Incorporating these skills in every aspect of their day to day living will improve the quality of their lives. She teaches these skills to everyone who enters her practice to provide clients with tools to create a satisfying life while living!
